We dispense adventure! Adventure on motorbikes off course….
Even if we have never done a route or a trip or owned a particular bike, it is our world to find out how and what works and then advise and guide our customers accordingly. Cape to Cairo Adventurers, Around the World Travellers, Men and Woman in “Midlife Crisis” and “Newbies testing the wild frontier”….they are all welcomed and valued in our Store.
Over time we’ve developed an “EXPERIENTIAL” store (you can TEST the LED spotlights, you can LOAN certain windscreens and spoilers, and nothing is verboten/behind glass/counter/don’t go there, etc.)!
We also have a high number of helpful, visible, branded staff, who are customer focused with good product knowledge.
We try, with good success, to keep a digital copy of ALL requests we cannot immediately fulfil, and then get back to the customer with a solution. It sounds obvious, but we have all been greeted by a shrug of the shoulders and a ‘Dunno?’ at some time in our lives.
Hopefully at Flying Brick you will get …”Absolutely, we’ll find a way to help you!”
Why the name Flying Brick?
The story BEHIND the name…. back in the day, Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki ALL had water-cooled 4 cylinder bike motors and BMW was under pressure to bring the same to it’s market.
BMW approached Peugeot for help with a car-based 4 cylinder water-cooled motor and then the designers rotated it 90 degrees to fit into a bike frame! It was an “ugly duckling” and was affectionately known as the “FLYING BRICK”.
Chris owned a Café’d BMW K100, the original ‘Flying Brick’, so the name has always resonated with him.
Why open a motorcycle accessory store?
We never wanted Retail – its bloody hard work! Chris, however needed an outlet to display his newly designed Flying Brick Luggage System and an opportunity presented itself inside a Yamaha store in Cape Town. No sooner had he started; when other requests came in for alternative soft luggage items and accessories and the need to please, be better and bigger was triggered!
So the little monster was born and 9 months later, moved into our own premises; surrounded by complimentary businesses and the area is now affectionately known as GASOLINE Alley!
How long in business?
Flying Brick started from a Home Garage five years ago with Chris r
“Just want to share / comment on the great service I received yesterday 28th April 2016 from Andre at Flying Brick Paarden Eiland, also understanding that Chris is away on a trip.
Andre took my call and from the very first minute yesterday he said he would help me out and resolve my issue regarding my spot light. This is the way a repeat and loyal customer of Flying Brick wants to be treated and at no time did Andre question my Integrity or have any doubt in what I had to say or felt that I had to explain myself to him and it is so nice to see that when the Boss is away the ship carry’s on sailing.
Well done Andre I will be sharing my customer satisfaction story with a lot more people.“
“I hope you enjoyed the holiday’s.
Just wanted to let you know that I have received the tent in good order.

“Flying Brick has become my ”One Stop Shop” for all my bike accessory needs relating to adventure biking. They almost always have what I am looking for and on the rare occasion that they don’t have stock, I usually get it the same week. Chris and Rinette have created a unique “family owned business” experience. It’s so pleasant to shop there that I have never felt the need to ask for discount on anything. You always get more than you pay for.“
“They are even easy to do business with from Gauteng. Give them a call, they e-mail a quote, you pay and have goods within 3 days. Very good advice and knowledgeable people. So easy to deal with.“

“Het my sakke ook daar gekry…en altyd goeie raad en inligting. Fantastiese spanEk het nou vir my ‘n stel saddle-bags laat opsit by Flying Brick in Paarden Eiland en moet sê, dis seker die beste diens wat ek al gehad het. As almal sulke diens kon aanbied was ek insolvent! Ek sal net koop en koop en koop! Dankie Flying Brick, julle diens is puik! Ek gaan definitief die manne van Johannesburg daar na julle toe stuur voor ons trip Desember. My 990 is nou reg vir die trip!“
“Since I purchased my Flying Brick Luggage System, I’ve not been happier. The bag is simply amazing. It’s big enough, small enough, light enough, flexible enough and has been invented with a lot of thought into exactly what we do when touring on two wheels. If you haven’t got one, or haven’t even seen one then I suggest you check them out and then of course, buy one.“
“I traveled from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town last week and stopped to buy one or two items that are not available in Port Elizabeth and walked out with quiet allot more than planned; but I’ve never come across such good service before. Well done guys. Keep it up!“
“It is so refreshing to deal with professionals, and by this I mean dealing with people that are passionate about what they do, and knowledgeable. To me it seems as if everybody there is a rider and conducting business with them is a treat!“
